Positives on the mailing list.
This could be one of those tipping points you read about.
If you haven't read it yet, please do read the vision statement that Kathy Sweeton (one of the Brick House co-chairs) posted on the discussion list this morning (it's at the bottom of this message).
Kathy is calling for new leadership at the Brick House ... drawing mainly from persons younger than us in the "Old Guard".
That means you!
One of the most heartening things that has happened at the Brick House in recent months is the arrival of new people like you who are interested in getting involved.
Please join the dialog on the discussion list and help shape a new Brick House that stands for some meaningful principles ... and knows how to practice those principles in day-to-day life.
You can see below that Paul Robey has already started the discussion. It's important that it continue.
Thanks,
John Hicks
(Like Kathy, a mere "keeper of the flame" until the new leadership arrives)
Many of the community leaders I have spoken with give me the stink eye when I ask them about the BH. Actually I almost get the feeling that it hurts my own professional credibility. Currently the mere mention of the BH to any music professional with any experience with the BH causes them to run in fear. The only way I see this changing is if the BH gets new leadership, new name, new image, new goals, and a portfolio of examples of how they are a benefit to the community. Actually signing up at the BH website and responding to these emails goes directly against the advice of several community leaders and friends. But I feel that the BH has some passion and potential that has not been realized yet. Here's your call to action.
Thank You,
Paul Robey

Inspiring words, but...
- the BH will have heat!
- the BHs ceiling will be fixed.
- the BH electrical systems will work.
- the BH will help those in need.
- the BH will be reliable support group for Louisville and most importantly the Old Louisville Community.
Other thoughts. Why hasn't the BH name been changed to represent the Old Louisville Community? Seems like support from B-Town road is waning anyway. Who do you share this vision with and how? If the message doesn't bring in new people to the BH then it is a waist of time if the vision doesn't foster real change then it is a failure. A new vision implies a new image for the BH, are we prepared to accept this and follow through? I am still wondering how I got added to this list... but I believe the BH has a very long way to go. And must cut a lot of its fat before it can move forward. Yeah the Louisville Music community has lost nearly all respect for the BH... that is said.
Thank You,
Paul Robey

All,
Where do we go from here is a good question which I am eager to answer!
I have a Vision for the BryccHouse in the next year and invite others to share their vision too!
My Vision:
I consider myself the 'Keeper of the BryccHouse Flame' until the rightful heirs become involved and are ready to take over.
I believe these individuals will be mostly younger in age and will have sincere enthusiasm and abundant energy and visions which they are passionate about.
I believe the future leadership will manage themselves in a responsibile and proffessional manner and peaceful embrace critisism if it is toward the greater good.
I hope the New Leadership will be guided by a Large Vision and will understand how to achieve that Vision with small and practical steps.
I hope that the present committed individuals will continue to assist the New Leadership with managing smaller tasks and providing training which passes on the knowledge which they have acquired over their (greater) years.
I hope the BryccHouse will become a well respected community leader in Louisville and in the country!
I would like to invite others to provide their vision to the Discuss Board and help the 'Old Guard' transition into the NEW BRYCCHOUSE!
Who will be a part of the NEW BRYCCHOUSE'S Future?

Thanks John, It helps to hear words of encouragement as we try to discern what is is that we need to do to turn things around. I would love to be one to step in and make everything better, but we have to take small steps in order to learn from small mistakes rather than large ones. Martin and Myself, are ready to take on more responsibility as far as our schedules allow. Unfortunately, I have no acess to our equipment from home, so until we get the office settled in, I won't be of any help for the radio. But we do have a great many plans for it, and we know how to tie it into the live shows, including the Word Spoken, so that we can cover as much time as possible, and get everyone's opinion and taste in there. If anyone is doing anything down there to clean up, or to fix anything, you can feel free to invite me to help, I may be busy, but I may not. I really don't mind helping as long as there's a little bit of appreciation involved. I hope that you guys know that we CAN change the public opinion of the BH, we just have to change the BH. I agree with Paul that the BH should be a better rep. of Old Louisville than B-town Rd. Maybe changing the name wouldn't be a bad idea? I've gotten the same Flak from people when I tell them I'm setting up a studio inside the BH. "Who's going to play THAT place?" or "Dude, didn't you hear about that ONE time?" "That place is still around?", there's a million of them. None are good. No one remembers the dude plays saxaphone show, or Born Empty, or paragon, No one was there to see them.
On a side note, I'm calling for a Noize collective Meeting Monday at 3:30pm. Be there or be square. We have plans to make, and follow through with. Anybody with me?
