plantings outside the building and a rainbarrel
hey all

i got plant donations from thieneman's greenhouses and they're going in the ground. shasta daisies, clovepinks, campanula, yarrow, beardtongue, and artemisia.

ALSO, how do people feel about hooking the drain on the south side of the building (out of street view, on our side of the fence, up with a rainbarrel system. It would allow us to store water all year and then hook up hoses which can water the front. I've got the barrels and it's a simple matter of just hooking them up which I could do in less than an hour.

i am all for it but ....
i have a strong sense that the barrel will get stolen if we do not secure it somehow with some anchors... i think we need about 3 rainbarrels to accommodate the square footage of our beds... i had a set of drafts at one time that placed one barrel by the side door and one up front and one around back.

more power to ya!

I would not only like to hook up those barrels, but get the permit to knock down the last garden bed on the St. Catherine side of the building so we may start on the bike rack and also start garden meetings up again so we may talk more with our supportwers about the Martin Luther King Service Project and how we may be involved there. I was thinking maybe getting our beds together and then going to Breckinridge and Clay and revamp that urban garden area that looks like it has been abandoned.
