Book Signing: Author Edna Kubala's new book, "Louisville's Butchertown"

Join us for a book signing with Edna Kubala, author of the new book Louisville's Butchertown.
Edna studied in Mainz, Germany from 2001-2005 where she became interested in planning and historic preservation after visiting Berlin, Amsterdam and Rome, where new developments were successfully integrated with existing uses. She returned to the United States to study at the University of Louisville in the Master of Urban Planning program. Through her studies she began to get involved with planning through the Capstone project which took her group to Hazard, Kentucky to examine its downtown and then she started looking at her own neighborhood of Butchertown. Through her work, she realized how long planning takes from the start of an idea through to completion.
"In Butchertown, a dedicated group of residents started fixing up houses, working with planners, and cleaning up an admittedly blighted neighborhood in the 1960's, and it's taken until now to really become a desirable place to live again. So this book really tries to help cement the history of Butchertown, an under-reported neighborhood, and help to explain the long history and issues this area has faced."
