| On March 27th, 1890 a devastating storm moved over the Ohio River Valley, spawning dozens of tornadoes. The most powerful twister, an F4, touched down in Louisville, carving a path of destruction more than a half mile wide. Nearly 800 buildings were destroyed and more than 100 people died. Berea author Keven McQueen has documented this remarkable chapter in Louisville history in the new book, aptly named The Great Louisville Tornado of 1890. He chronicles the events before, during and after what remains our city's most violent natural disaster, illustrated with photographs from the U of L archives. Join us on what will be the 120th anniversary of this terrifying event.
